Inspect the type label underneath the Wacom digitizer:
www.wacom.com/productsupport/model.cfm

If your digitizer is not available you can use its color to identify recent tablets:

COLOR
Black - Wacom Bamboo, Intuos 4 (has buttons on one side)
Blue - Wacom Intuos 2, Bamboo (limited period)
Blue Metallic - Wacom Graphire 3 or 4 (Graphire 3 and 4 are electronically identical)
Gray Dark - Wacom Intuos 3 (has buttons left and right)
Gray Light - Wacom Graphire 2
Silver (with clip-on pen) - Wacom Graphire 3 or 4 (Graphire 3 and 4 are electronically identical)
Silver - Wacom Intuos 2, Bamboo
White - Wacom Graphire 3 or 4 (Graphire 3 and 4 are electronically identical.), Bamboo

PEN COMPATIBILITY
o All Graphire, Bamboo pens are compatible.
o Intuos pens differ for each Intuos version.
o Pens with an "eraser" are the default grip pens. Pens without eraser are inking pens.
o Inking pens have by default a non-inking nib that needs to be exchanged by an inking refill.
